“Hey kiddos.” A man with long brown hair that is put up in a man bun says. When the group walks behind Mylee into a seemingly abandoned warehouse. Next to him stands a woman with black medium hair in a braid and her hands on her hips. “Hello, you must be the friends from little Lee, nice to meet you.”
“Hey Tobe and Aki.” Mylee greets. “You know you may use my given name, just like Saito.” Tobe says with a smile. “I know, but for the thousands time that feels weird.” Mylee says while rolling their eyes. “Anyway, I want you guys to meet Tobe Akiko and Saito Aki. They are going to help us learn how to fight.”
“That is right!” Tobe exclaims and holds a thumb up. “Sorry that it took 3 weeks to set this up.” Saito says apologetically. “We didn’t have time earlier and you guys needed to build up some base strength.” She explains. “You have done that, right?” she says with a pointed look.
“Yes ma’am!” Izu, Hitoshi, Natsuo and Aisha say in unison. Straightening from shock. This earns a chuckle from Mylee, Tobe and Saito. “You don’t have to be that formal.” Tobe says waving his hand dismissively. “Yes, we just want to help you.” Saito adds. “Mylee?” Tobe asks. “Yes?” “Will you show them around while we set up the last things?” Directly after he said that all the lights flicker on and the group could see that this abandoned warehouse was full with training equipment. From punching bags and dummies to weightlifting gear and treadmills, with in the middle a big mat.
“Drama king.” Mylee says while rolling her eyes. “Come on.” She waves her arm in a gesture that means follow me. She shows the group where the changing rooms are, where they do cardio, where they can fill up their water bottle and where the supply closet is with first aid material.
“Wow it is so big! It seems even bigger than where my father and brother train!” Natsuo exclaims, while looking around with big eyes. “At least I assume it is bigger, I have never been allowed inside.” He says with a shrug. “Mood” Aisha says. This makes everyone bark a laugh.
“We should get dressed for the training; we can’t keep them waiting.” Izu states while rubbing his head sheepishly. “Last one in the changing rooms is a potato!” Aisha yells while starting to run. “No fair, you had a false start.” Shinso mutters while running past Natsuo. “That doesn’t mean you will win.” Mylee tells Aisha while running past her.
They get dressed while laughing. After they get dressed, they walk to the mat.
“So, what we are going to do today is,” Saito start “some simple moves.”
“Put your arms out and go stand somewhere where you have at least a meter of space from the tips of your fingers.” Tobe instructs. And they do as they are told. They first learn how to drop into a steady fighting stance. Whit some tips and help from Tobe, Seito and Mylee. “Wait Mylee, do you already know how to fight?” Natsuo asks after Mylee gave him some pointers.
“Yes, I know how to fight.” Mylee says. “I believe my first lesson was when I was 4.” A shocked gasp leaves Izuku’s mouth. “It was nothing big at that time, just the fighting stance. The right way to make fist.” She says waving her hands dismissively. “Wait, there is a wrong way to form fist?” Aisha asks.
“Well... Yes, a lot of people put their thumb in their hands while forming fist. Not realizing that is the best way to break your thumb.” “Ah oke.”
“Anyway, you guys can chat while switching from the different fighting stances.” Tobe says. “Yeah, we say a way and you drop in the corresponding fighting stance.” Seito adds. “Crouched.”The group drops low with one foot under their hips and one diagonally in front of them and their hand for their mouths balled in fists. “Aisha put your arms a bit more foreword not directly in front of you but with some room to spare.” Seito corrects Aisha.
“And why do we do our other foot diagonally in front of us and not straight?” Tobe asks. “To make it easier to turn!” The group says in unison. “Correct” So they continue for 10 minutes dropping into various fighting stances.
“Great!” now we will do some yoga to warm up further.” Seito says happily. “Wait this is the warming up? I thought we already started.” Natsuo says confused. “We never start without warming up. Next time you guys will warm up by your selves, with some stretches and some running.”
So, they do some yoga with lots of fails and fits of giggles. After the warming up they get the punching bags and learn how to properly throw punches in various standing, sitting and lying positions. Mylee trains a bit more intensive while still staying with the group and giving some tips. Then they start learning how to dodge an attack, but just as they start Natsuo’s phone buzzes.
He scrambles to get his phone out of his bag. “Hey with Natsuo!” he says after picking up the phone without looking at the caller ID. “Natsuo! Why. Are. You. Not. Home!” the voice of Endeavor rings through the whole make shift gym. “Oh, hey dad.” He says with a sigh. “I am out with some friends, learning.” “Better not with those quirkless nobodies.” This earns a roll of Natsuo’s eyes. “You did not call just to ask that, so what is wrong?” “Don’t talk like that to your father?” Natsuo just gives the phone a look of annoyance while mouthing father in a mocking tone. “In the morning there will be an interview at our home and I want the whole family together.” “Oh, so you get mom out of the hospital!” “Don’t act so stupid! Go home now and learn your text!” “Do I get more than one line this time?” A huff is heard “If you don’t act like a brat, just get home already!”
“Sorry guys I have to leave now.” “But we would have a sleepover, at Mylee’s house.” Izuku whines. “Go on without me, it is fine, have fun.” With that he despairs into the changing rooms.
The rest continue their training, a little later he emerges from the changing room haves with a “Goodnight, everyone.” And is out the door. A little later the rest call it a night and while Mylee helps the others with their cool downs. Seito and Tobe stand in the corner watching.
“I can see why she befriended them.”
“Just our little Lee, always helping. Just like her parents and other family members.”
“Just like she helped me and all the kids.”
“Yeah, she may be the expert with stubborn teens, but kids also flock to her.”
“By the way, I recognized the voice from over the phone.”
“I also thought it was familiar, but more over I thought he was very rude and not fit for the title ‘father’.”
“Yeah.”
After the group did their cool downs, they walked over to Seito and Tobe. “Thank you for the lesson.” Izuku says politely while doing a small bow. Shinso and Aisha also do a small bow.
“No need to bow.” Seito says. “Do you still find it uncomfortable?” Tobe asks Seito in a sarcastic tone. “Hey, I am just not used to it.” Seito says irritated. “Yeah, I feel that, I keep forgetting when I need to bow and how deep the bow is supposed to be.” Mylee says.
“Where are you actually from? I never asked.” Izuku asks. “Me and Aki are from Europe.” Mylee answers. “That explains why you don’t bow correctly.” Shinso says with a huff of laughter. “I did it wrong once!” “You disrespected the police chef, because of that.” “I bowed!” “You didn’t bow 90 degrees when apologizing.” “I didn’t even need to apologize it wasn´t my fault.” “They thought differently.”
Mylee rolls with her eyes after the last statement. “Let’s just go to my house. Bye Tobe and Aki.” “Bye rest up.” Seito and Tobe say at the same time “Jinx!” Seito yells. Tobe huffs at that. “Ah, sweet silence.” The kids laugh and walk away.
It is late when they get to Mylee’s house, so they shower and quickly get into bed. After a short conversation they fall asleep, Well Izuku, Aisha and Shinso fall asleep. Not knowing, Mylee is nowhere to be found.
