Rosa Maria Soto
8/29/1967 – 8/10/2024
Galveston, Texas
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rosa Maria Soto, 56 years old, who departed this life on August 10th, 2024, in her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on August 29th, 1967, in La Paz, S.L.P, Mexico to her father, Jose Lucas Ruiz Morua and mother, Maria Trinidad Ruiz Rodriguez.
She is originally from a small town named La Paz in a large, beautiful state called San Luis Potosi on the side of a large mountain facing the main city of Matehuala, mainly known for its vast mining industry and deep-rooted culture. At the age of 21, she immigrated to the United States with her oldest son and husband and began her life here. Always hard at work, Rosa began working at McDonald’s in the late fall of 1997 and created many beautiful friendships and memories with coworkers during her time there. She departed that job in April of 2020 and began her short time at Shriner’s Hospital where she enjoyed being part of the EVS team and brightening patients’ days with her smile. One of her proudest moments was when she became a U.S. citizen in May of 2019, a life-long goal she had for herself when she first arrived here. She enjoyed cooking for her loved ones, spending time with her husband and children, bonding with her grandchildren, and visiting her parents, brothers, and sisters in Mexico every chance she could. She will be remembered for her fighting spirit, kind soul, and welcoming aura she always had. She was a person you could count on no matter the situation and was always open to lend a helping hand any chance she got. Her humor was unmatched, and her laughter was contagious and always the loudest in the room. We will never forget the love she had for the Lord and her immense positivity and unwavering faith she had even on her last days.
She is survived by her loving husband Jesus Soto-Torres and children, Jesus Soto Jr. and Briana Soto, Eduardo Soto and Paulina Dominguez, Aneth Soto and Kevin Lora, and Lizett Soto and Miguel Zaragoza. Grandchildren, Angelina Marie Thomas, Valeria Elizabeth Soto, Alyanna Lynette Soto, Analysia Gabrielle Soto, Jaden Andres Zaragoza, and her brothers and sisters Maricruz Leticia Ruiz Rodriguez, Mario Santiago Ruiz Rodriguez, Ruben Ruiz Rodriguez, Jose Martin Ruiz Rodriguez, Maria Isabel Ruiz Rodriguez, Beatriz Ruiz Rodriguez, Juan Eduardo Ruiz Rodriguez, and Elio Ruiz Rodriguez.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jose Lucas Ruiz Morua and Maria Trinidad Ruiz Rodriguez as well as her brother and sister Humberto Ruiz Rodriguez and Martha Elena Ruiz Rodriguez.
A memorial service honoring her life will be held on August 17th, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home located on 1201 23rd St Rear, Galveston, TX. Friends and family are invited to join us in celebrating her life and to offer their condolences.
No temerá mi corazón;
Aunque contra mí se levante guerra,
Yo estaré confiado.
4 Una cosa he demandado a Jehová, esta buscaré;
5 Porque él me esconderá en su tabernáculo en el día del mal;
Me ocultará en lo reservado de su morada;
Y yo sacrificaré en su tabernáculo sacrificios de júbilo;
Cantaré y entonaré alabanzas a Jehová.
7 Oye, oh Jehová, mi voz con que a ti clamo;
Tu rostro buscaré, oh Jehová;
9 No escondas tu rostro de mí.
No apartes con ira a tu siervo;
Mi ayuda has sido.
10 Aunque mi padre y mi madre me dejaran,
Con todo, Jehová me recogerá.
11 Enséñame, oh Jehová, tu camino,
Y guíame por senda de rectitud
A causa de mis enemigos.
12 No me entregues a la voluntad de mis enemigos;
14 Aguarda a Jehová;
Esfuérzate, y aliéntese tu corazón;
Sí, espera a Jehová.
